"Hello Everyone! Welcome to The Game of Life Podcast; I am Alexandria Burek and I am your host.

Thank you for picking my show; you will find this show is a blend of personal stories and life lessons covering a wide–and I mean wide–range of topics that are designed to help you live a little better everyday; my goal in sharing these personal stories, wins, whatever it may be is always to inspire you–my life is so radically different even I am a bit amazed at the transformation that's taken place over the last 3 years. With that, no better time to get into it than the present.

In this episode we are exploring the law of action: through the lens of this law, action is the bridge between intention and manifestation. Today we will see how deliberate, consistent steps towards goals, and aligning our efforts with desire, will bring our desired results to life. We will touch on what the law is, how we see this in modern philosophy and ancient stoicism, and walk away with four simple things you can do today, to put the law of action to work for you!

Before we dive into the heart of the episode, I will kick it off with a little personal update.

Personal Update:

My goal with the personal update is to put my money where my mouth is and lead by example. I’ll share three personal wins, sprinkle in some gratitude, drop a new original thought and leave you guys with a song I love (link will be in the show notes).

Wins:

First, I undertook a MAJOR landscaping project and literally brought the vision I had for my house to life. Back in 2023 before I bought the house–I envisioned a home that was painted black, with beautiful pink flowers bordering it. Two short years later, I relentlessly brought that vision to life. Such a huge W–and living proof that if you can hold in your mind you can hold it in your hand (aka bring your vision to life with relentless action).

Second, I am loving how the consulting role has expanded my view of the world and the problems people are solving as a firm; I am so excited about the ways I need to and have been leveling up to be successful. My soul is feeling satisfied, and my mind stimulated.

Third, I am thrilled to report that I was gifted a free ticket to an industry convention by my w2. A lot of my work friends will be there and I already know its going to be a hell of a time. The cherry on top, is that I was already planning a visit to see my friend in the next state over–what a JOY!

Gratitude: I am grateful for how amazing things turned out for me and how my career and my personal life seem to be meshing together better and better each year. I was telling my friend this the other night, he and I were at dinner, and I said: As I was waiting for you, I could not believe how lucky I am that I have all of these friends groups, and that as a result of my career I have built a set of friends whose friendship will last longer than our careers. I just felt so lucky. I don’t think it is all that common and I am surely not taking it for granted. I am so grateful for the amazing people I work with and call friends.

Original Thought: This came to me in the last week, and if I told you what I was able to accomplish in the last 168 hours, you would have to assume I was railing cocaine. I was not. But even I am looking back wondering how the hell I got all this done–in all honesty I am truly exhausted and will need a day of rest before I can get back in full swing. Either way. The original thought: The more you do, the more you realize what you're capable of…
The take away here is, find your point of no return

Feature song of the week. This week’s song is just what the doctor ordered if you are into EDM and are feeling your feelings. The song is, Never Too Much (feat. MIYA MIYA) by Gold RVSH. I selected this song because I literally cannot stop listening to it. It fits with this topic because in today's episode I am going to use my latest love story to highlight how I use the law of action in my life.

Food For Thought: Law of Action

You guys I love the law of action, and I am so excited to share this with you. I am also so excited to share my love story and how I have applied the law of action to my love life–as I talk about him, I will refer to him as my mister right. So let’s get into it; let’s talk about what the law of action is, how we see the law of action come up in New Thought philosophy and Stoicism, and finally four simple steps we can all use to put the law of action to work in your life today.

The Takeaways: The law of action

So what is the law of action? The Law of Action is the principle that purposeful, aligned action transforms ideas, goals, or intentions into reality. You guys. Think about that for a second; think about it, Think about what it would be like to take actions that will bring your ideas, goals and intentions to life. You guys with my house, with my career, with even my love life, it has been my greatest accomplishment and satisfaction to think of something and bring it to life–if you have had that experience, you know, if you have yet to experience that, I invite you to create that possibility today!

You may be picking up on a few critical components to this law:

-visualization

-positive thinking

-willingness to believe it is possible

-tinacity to stick with it even when everything or everyone else is telling you its not possible, even when the deck is stacked against you.

The law of action, unlike passive hope, demands YOUR engagement with the physical world to create tangible results. If all I ever do is visualize my life with Mister Right, but never reach out to him, or make an effort to see him, how can I ever expect that my desire to be together will materialize. Our desires and visions need to be met with inspired action; inspired action is the key that unlocks the universe’s tailwind in your favor.

On this show we cover the law of action in Rhona Byrne’s The Secret during episode 36; I am often quoting Amy Porterfield’s mantra, Action Brings Clarity, and we even touched on this in episode 32 with our guest Bob Burg. Regardless of who said it and how they said it, the message is the same: the universe responds to proactive effort, amplifying intentions through physical steps.

We also see examples of the law of action in stoicism, which we recently covered a little bit on episode, 71, featuring Marcus Aurelius’s book Meditations; if it didn’t come through on episode 71, Marcus Aurelius stands for taking disciplined action as a way to live virtuously, focusing on what is within one’s control. What can you do, what is one thing you can do that would move you one inch closer to your dream life; do that today.

The Law of Action boils down to four simple steps: set intentions, identify aligned actions, act consistently, and visualize–sounds a little like the Do Be Get concept we’ve covered recently.

Do the things, Be the person, get the results.

So lets dive into the four steps before we close out this episode:

  1. Set Intentions: Define specific, meaningful outcomes you want to create in your life (e.g., career advancement, love, better health). Be specific. Vague desires lead to scattered actions. Be specific.
    1. For me and my love story: My short term intentions are to hangout this weekend; the long term intentions I am optimizing for are dating, marriage, having four kids, living in a beautiful condo, and escaping to my current house to enjoy nature.
  2. Identify Aligned Actions: Create actionable plans with small, manageable tasks.
    1. For me and my love story: The aligned actions I need to take, are to ensure that all the “things” I need to get done in the next few days, are done before Saturday, so I am free to be with him without compromising the commitments I have. For the long term, its things like taking care of myself, my body, my finance, my well being, advancing my career, and positioning myself to be the partner he would want, and I would be proud of.
  3. Act Consistently: Build habits through daily effort. Consistency compounds over time.
    1. For me and my love story: Consistency in the short term is regularly reaching out, sending him songs, and let him know I am here; I am not going anywhere. Consistency is also staying firm in my belief and maintaining trust that this relationship is for me, for us.
  4. Visualize and Act: Pair visualization (e.g., seeing yourself succeeding) with immediate action to reinforce momentum.
    1. For me and my love story: I am committed to spending time daily, visualizing what our lives will look like together at various stages of our relationship.

I applied this same framework to my new role as a consultant: my intention is to be a full time consultant (I decided that early 2024), the aligned action I took over the last year was reaching out to the firm I wanted to work with, then I began acting like a consultant, and consistently practiced being a consultant in my day job, and now I visualize what that looks like to be full time: what does my work station look like, what does my schedule look like, what clothes do I wear, now that I am a full time consultant?

So what is it for you? You can apply this to anything. Is it your career you would like to change? Is it your fitness and self care habits you want to level up on? Is it where you want to live? Is it the life you want to create with your partner? Is it a bucket list type trip or experience you want to create?

What would ideal look like for you? What is one small action you can take, what action is small enough that you can show up consistently everyday to build that identity and strengthen that vision?

Bob Proctor says: if you can hold it in your mind you can hold it in your hand.

I will just add, that you may need to be patient. I started visualizing the things I am talking about now, in Q1 2024. I was visualizing and taking inspired action with Mister Right and with Consulting well over a year ago–sometimes this process is slow, until it's fast. But now, a year later and it’s all working out perfectly according to plan.
