Intro:

"Hello Everyone! Welcome to The Game of Life Podcast; I am Alexandria Burek and I am your host.

Thank you for picking my show; you will find this show is a blend of personal stories and life lessons covering a wide–and I mean wide–range of topics that I hope will help you live life a little better everyday; my goal in sharing these personal stories, wins, whatever it may be is always to inspire you–my life is so radically different even I am a bit amazed at the transformation that's taken place over the last 3 years. With that, no better time to get into it than the present.

In this episode, we are not featuring a book nor are we exploring the laws of the universe–we are celebrating 75 episodes of this show! It is truly wild to think about having published 75 episodes. In this episode I have curated 75 bite sized life lessons you can use to level up every aspect of your life.

Before we dive into the heart of the episode, I will kick it off with a little personal update.

Personal Update:

My goal with the personal update is to put my money where my mouth is and lead by example. I’ll share three personal wins, sprinkle in some gratitude, drop a new original thought and leave you guys with a song I love (link will be in the show notes).

Wins:

First, I am really loving the consulting work, the people I am working with, and the projects I am engaged with–it has really reignited my passion and appreciation for my career.

Second, my basement has officially been painted–top to bottom–and is ready for finishing touches. This is such a big win, because it was a big job, but more importantly, it represents my willingness to push past the fear of the project itself and put myself in a position to be successful with listing my house on airbnb.

Third, I am so excited about a trip I have coming up this weekend. It will be my first time visiting Mississippi—we’ll be hitting Pensacola, Mobile, and Ocean Springs. I am considering it a win because it would have been easy to make excuses not to go, but instead, I’m prioritizing fun, I’m living in the moment, and making life happen. I am also very excited to spend time with a VERY good friend of mine.

Gratitude: I am so grateful that people are so nice to me—I genuinely believe that this is because of how I approach situations and show up for people. That said, I am so thankful and lucky that people are so kind and helpful to me.

Original Thought: People are watching. You may not realize it and it may not be evident, what you’re doing and how your doing it counts.

Feature song of the week: This weeks song of the week Elevate by Night Tales. I am not only obsesssssssed with the beats of this song, but the singers voice touches my brain in a beautiful way. Lyrically I love that this song is all about love and elevated states. If you are looking for a chill beach or poolside love song this is for you.

Ok–75 episodes you guys–I could not be more proud or grateful to be here, speaking to you and sharing these bits of my life and experience with you, hopefully leaving you with a fresh perspective and a bit of inspiration.

Milestone Episode: Celebrating 75 episodes

So, to celebrate 75 episodes, I have selected 75 of my favorite life lessons to share with you. Some of these lessons were covered in previous episodes and some are completely fresh ideas. With that, let's get into it.

  1. Embrace discomfort—discomfort is a symptom of growth and expansion.
  2. Your thoughts shape your reality—choose them wisely.
  3. Let go of perfection. You can only work to perfect something once you get started. Progress will beat perfection every time.
  4. Schedule your priorities.
  5. Consistency trumps intensity every time.
  6. Automate as much of your life as possible. The more you automate the more free you are to grow and execute.
  7. Declutter your space to clear your mind.
  8. Connect with nature. It’s good for your mind, your nervous system, and your soul.
  9. Practicing gratitude is practicing abundance.
  10. Vulnerability builds connection.
  11. Make forgiveness a regular habit. Forgiving is about you, not them.
  12. Listen deeply—it’s the greatest gift you can give.
  13. Fear is an inch deep and a mile wide; everything I’ve been afraid of, actually wasn’t that scary once I did it.
  14. Action brings clarity. Get started. Do things.
  15. Choose your circle wisely; your circle affects what you think is possible for you.
  16. Experiment with different ways of doing things. It’s good for your brain.
  17. Fear of success is real–it just shows up in different ways for different people. Just act in spite of the fear. Each time you step towards your fear it becomes easier.
  18. Act as if you’re already the person you want to be.
  19. Invest in yourself. You can lose your job, but you can’t lose your skills, knowledge and crafted abilities.
  20. Winners play to win and losers play not to lose.
  21. You need to have a clear definition of what success looks like in order to have any chance at achieving it.
  22. Stop going for a little better and go for best.
  23. Avoid Autopilot – design your day with intention. Focus on what makes the biggest impact and do that first.
  24. Your life is right now. Stop waiting for circumstances to be right, and just go for it.
  25. It’s not too late and you are not too old
  26. Being upset is a choice. You’re choosing to be upset. Take your power back.
  27. You are not a product of your circumstances but of your decisions.
  28. Only you know your true potential and whether or not you are living up to it. Don’t let yourself lie on your deathbed wondering what it would have been like if you went all in. If you actually did the thing.
  29. The more you do, the more you realize what you’re capable of.
  30. Complaining is a drain on you and whoever your complaining to. Stop complaining and start doing.
  31. If your a woman in business, wear makeup, you’ll earn 30% more, and you’ll feel better.
  32. Life is better when you’re not in a rush. Put your life on easy mode.
  33. Find ways to reframe your peculiarities as superpowers. Lean into your weird.
  34. If you don’t quit you can’t loose.
  35. If you want to be great, you’re going to need to find whatever the right mix of David Goggins energy and self love and compassion is for you; it’s going to be different for everyone. And in my experience needs fine tuning based on the particular thing you’re working on.
  36. The more you resist discomfort or unpleasant feelings the more they grow—face them so they can pass.
  37. Luxuries once enjoyed quickly become necessities we cannot live without.
  38. Your lessons become the value and expertise you can share with others. They give you credibility and authenticity because you lived it. (67)
  39. The finish line is death. Slow down and enjoy the journey. (68)
  40. Set intentions not expectations.
  41. If you’re living a life someone else designed you’re wasting yours.
  42. When you take your life seriously people take you seriously
  43. Life is not about waiting it’s about living. Waiting is wasting. (5/11/2019)
  44. Have the humility to learn, and the confidence to grow. (5/20/2019) (71)
  45. Everyday, find a way to pave the way for future wins. Do one thing that gets you closer to the life of your dreams.
  46. If you don’t try, you don’t have to feel bad about not succeeding. If you try, and you fail, which you will fail, you will have lots to feel bad about, because you failed. But really you should be proud, because you actually fucking tried. (9/29/24) (72)
  47. Having the right people involved in a deal is just as important as the deal itself. (10/8/2024)
  48. Ask yourself, how would I behave if I were being respectful to myself, then make it a habit to live that way.  (1/8/2025)
  49. Courage precedes confidence (2/18/2025) (70)
  50. Put your life on easy mode. Do the meal prep. Have your bag ready. Charge your phone.
  51. We don’t rise to our aspirations we fall to the level of systems. Curate your own systems for diet and nutrition, finance, and fitness.
  52. Create a list of 3-5 confidence cues— memories or situations in which you did something great and felt amazing. (3/11/2025) (74)
  53. The environments and people you choose to be in and around will affirm your life choices, good or bad. There are likely just as many people in gyms as there are bars; your surroundings matter more than you think. (3/16/2025)
  54. There is no shortage of time or money, it’s just how you spend it. (3/19/2026)
  55. If dissatisfaction comes from not liking the way it is, change it. (4/1/25) (69)
  56. Stay vigilant. If you take your foot off the gas long enough, you’ll eventually stop. (4/12/2025)
  57. Stop succumbing to comfort. Comfort kills growth. (4/12/2025)
  58. Life hack: Don’t think about all the things you have to do, just do them. Then, be amazed at all you can accomplish.
  59. Adulthood can be way cooler than they make it out to be if you let it. (4/26/2025)
  60. Life should be fun. Expressive. Expansive.
  61. Macronutrients to happiness include: enjoyment, satisfaction, and purpose. Do things you enjoy. Find projects that satisfy you. Explore and reflect until you find your purpose. Then live it.
  62. We are what we pretend to be. Be careful about what you pretend to be.
  63. What you’re not changing you’re choosing
  64. Learn the lesson, then leave the event.
  65. Accept your feelings without becoming consumed by them.
  66. No one can do everything, but we can all do something. Little moves matter.
  67. The mind is not a reliable narrator of our experience. Learn to challenge your mind and your perspective.
  68. Learn to control your mind.
  69. Always close out conversations with an offer to help or serve. Most people will be so touched by the offer itself.
  70. Everyone is dealing with something—try to be compassionate as much as possible.
  71. Do things that set your soul on fire
  72. Be the type of person your younger self would be proud of
  73. If things are not the way you’d hoped they would be, ask yourself, how I can make the best out of this
  74. Your energy is your currency. If people feel good in your prescience they will want to work with you and help you,
  75. Own your story; make edits where necessary.
